In workshops located in Jayamahal, Cox Town, Maruti Seva Nagar, and various parts of the city, there is a busy atmosphere as traditional techniques are combined with modern designs to create stunning masterpieces. The craftsmanship, vibrant colors, and symbolic elements all contribute to the artistry that brings Durga Puja alive. Artisan Chandrashekhar Pal mentioned that theme-based idols and contemporary designs, some integrating clothing, are gaining popularity, with sizes ranging from 6 to 15 feet and a rising demand for larger idols. Despite feeling disheartened when their hard work goes unnoticed, artisans like Chandrashekhar Pal are fulfilled knowing that their art serves a religious purpose and provides income for their teams. Another artisan highlighted the increasing demand for idols, with more Bengalis moving to Bengaluru, resulting in him creating around 60 idols compared to a few in the past. He also noted the difference in how Karnataka celebrates Dussehra while Bengalis observe Durga Puja, starting on the day of Panchami.
